Philadelphia’s Solar Rebate

This rebate is inactive but could return soon.

The Philly Solar Rebate is a program designed by the Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) to help the City of Philadelphia reach their sustainability goals.  Simply put, the City will issue checks to homeowners for going solar.  Amounts vary based on the size of your solar array, but most checks are approx. $1000. The Philadelphia Energy Authority (PEA) consulted Solar States’ Micah Gold-Markel before bringing the proposal to the city. Initially, the rebate was to make $1 million in rebates available to residential and commercial property owners in Philadelphia. Micah proposed $500k per year for the next 5 years, for a total of $2.5 million in solar rebates. The rebate was authorized, granting commercial property owners $.10 / watt and residential property owners $.20 / watt for any solar project installed after July 2019.

How to Apply

This rebate is no longer active.

There is cause to believe this rebate will return in the near future.  The PEA is currently accepting applications to be placed on a wait list for the rebate.  Applications will be reviewed and awarded in the order they are received and we are told the current waitlist is relatively small. Apply for the Philly Solar Rebate, and secure your spot on the waitlist today!
