We’re always looking for great people! Careers

A bit about us…

Solar States is the on ramp for inner city residents looking to find jobs in the solar industry. As a result of our founding ethos we have a dual mission to install solar and educate the next generation of solar installers. After establishing our headquarters in Philadelphia, PA, we began installing solar for such institutions as the Community College of Philadelphia and Swarthmore College. We have completed over 500 projects for residential and commercial clients, impacted hundreds of students through our curriculum and job placement, and hired a number of these students ourselves.

The 2008 Q&A that that led to Solar States….

In this clip taken from our Yoooo Sun!!! Podcast, Micah recalls the his dialogue with Van Jones at the Academy of Natural Sciences in 2008 and the impact it had on his decision to start Solar States.

Education Programs

We’ve designed the “Find Your Power” curriculum to educate anyone interested in pursuing a career in solar. Our programs are made possible by educational partners, like the Philadelphia Energy Authority, so that students get a free education with hands-on experience. Our students enter with no previous exposure to the solar industry and graduate as qualified solar installers. A number of Find Your Power graduates now work for Solar States, and we’ve helped place many more in jobs elsewhere.
