A solar carport is a structure that is designed to provide shelter to vehicles while also generating electricity from the sun. It is essentially a covered parking area that is topped with solar panels. The solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into electricity, which can then be used to power nearby buildings or to charge electric vehicles.

Whether nestled in a public parking lot, gracing a business establishment, or adorning a residential area, solar carports confer several advantages. Not only do they shield vehicles from inclement weather, but they also reduce energy expenses and cut down on greenhouse gas emissions. Furthermore, the solar panels serve a dual purpose of offering much-needed shade to parked vehicles, lending comfort to drivers and passengers on sweltering days.

We have installed dozens of EV chargers and have worked with local businesses to design and install solar powered carports with multiple EV charging stations. For example, we partnered with a  software company QLIK on a 24 kW solar carport (above) with 8 EV charging stations to power electric vehicle charging and to offset the electrical usage of QLIK’s offices.

We work with several innovative engineering firms such as Brooklyn Solar Canopy and Inhabit Solar to design, engineer, and construct 21st century solar-powered charging stations.

We also offer EV chargers to residences in addition to their solar installation so that homeowners can transition off of fossil fuels entirely for their home’s electric usage, home heating, and transportation.
