Assistant Manager of Operations

JOB DESCRIPTION

In the Assistant Manager of Operations (“AMO”) role, you will be responsible for the solar panel installation process from sale to install closeout.  The AMO will be directly responsible for the workflow from contract signing, through scheduling, and closing out of the project after installation.  The AMO is responsible for working with the Manager of Operations (“MO”), and scheduling installations, coordinating installations, customer contact, and project completion of assigned projects to ensure 100% internal and external customer satisfaction. The AMO assists with coordinating and implementing project objectives and procedures, directs and monitors construction and financial activities by working with the sales team, accounting team, on-site solar leads, site survey technicians, and other members of the Solar States team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for assisting with coordination of key deliverables from design, procurement, construction, budget, and schedule from project inception through project closeout. This includes but is not limited to the below:

  • Scheduling installations in coordination with homeowner and Solar States
    • tracking project timelines, managing change orders, and providing notices or dispute resolution if required
  • Ordering all material for residential jobs in coordination with the Warehouse Manager and MO.
    • working with the Warehouse Manager and MO to ensure proper stock for commonly used materials, as well as for specific job sites.
  • “Closing out” a solar job, including but not limited to a job completion email and confirmation from the solar crew that the job is complete, operational, and satisfactory.
    • working with the appropriate team member to ensure inspections, permit close out, interconnection, and monitoring is completed on time and correctly, as well as quality control and assurance.
  • Overseeing the Permitting Inbox. The AMO’s direct reports should be the first line to respond to the inbox inquiries, but it is the AMO’s responsibility to make sure the inbox is being monitored and emails are being responded to in a timely manner.
  • Overseeing and managing the Logistics Inbox and prioritizing their importance and knowing you may coordinate the responses with other Solar States team members or Managers when necessary.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Permitting Officer and confirming their work is timely and accurate.
  • Assist with company resource availability (installers, etc.) and operational needs to ensure achievement of established project goals.

Warehouse Associate

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Warehouse Associate will work to organize, maintain, and communicate inventory and warehouse needs to ensure we are stocked with the appropriate equipment and materials. You will work with warehouse and install crews to coordinate and prepare job packets, materials, and job site material drop os.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Project staging and inventory support

  • Receive and check all incoming shipments and label appropriately
  • Pick up additional materials from local solar and electrical vendors
  • Conduct weekly inventory checks with warehouse manager
  • Stage materials for upcoming projects daily
  • Maintain a clean and safe warehouse space

Fleet Management and materials transport

  • Drive solar panels and equipment to job sites daily
  • Make sure vehicles are in working order (check uid levels, tire pressures, working lights)
  • Coordinate vehicle maintenance around crew’s scheduling needs & maintain maintenance logs
  • Maintain up-to-date vehicle records with information such as inspection, registration, and insurance

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Forklift operator; Solar States will assist with certication
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Comfortably able to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying temperatures
  • Must be highly organized and able to multitask while setting priorities
  • Ability to succeed in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • Self-motivated and team-oriented
  • OSHA 10 certification (Solar States will pay for you to obtain)
  • OSHA 30 certification is not required but is a plus

Job Description

Solar States is seeking an independent and capable Solar Installer to help our install team meet our residential solar installation pipeline

Position Responsibilities:

  • Install photovoltaic (PV) systems (modules and racking) in accordance with codes and standards using and following designs, drawings, and specs
  • Working on residential and small commercial roof-tops as well as installing ground mounted systems, and other custom installations
  • Pulling of inventory and knowledge of solar parts for specific projects
  • Operate general carpentry, hand, and power tools
  • Assist with electrical work as needed to connect solar system to electric grid
  • Manage & maintain cleanliness and organization of your crews vehicle and the company warehouse
  • Identify electrical, environmental and safety hazards associated with installation

The job will include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. This position also includes minor electrical work and working from heights and enclosed spaces, so you should be comfortable in all scenarios. The Installer will be responsible for jobs in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey region, with travel to other states as needed. Overnight travel may be required. Solar installation is largely outdoor work, and installers are expected to dress appropriately for the weather. No one will be asked to work under unsafe conditions.
