Manager of Operations

JOB DESCRIPTION

In the Manager of Operations (“MO”) role, you will be responsible for the solar panel installation process from sale to install closeout.  The MO will directly manage the workflow from contract review and countersigning, through scheduling, and closing out of the project after installation.  The MO is responsible for leading the Operations team with oversight, scheduling, customer insight, and budget awareness of assigned projects to ensure 100% internal and external customer satisfaction. The MO assists with coordinating and implementing project objectives and procedures, directs and monitors construction and financial activities by working with the sales team, accounting team, on-site solar leads, site survey technicians, and other members of the Solar States team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the coordination of key deliverables from design, procurement, construction, budget, and schedule from project inception through project closeout. This includes but is not limited to the below:

  • Reviewing all residential contracts, helping to ensure pricing accuracy and adherence to the proposal.
  • Scheduling installations or assigning the role of scheduling installations, in coordination with homeowner and Solar States
    • tracking project timelines, managing change orders, and providing notices or dispute resolution if required
    • additional help to project manage and track large commercial jobs with coordination from other parties as necessary including and but not limited to to the COO and CEO
  • Ordering or assigning the task of ordering, all material for residential and commercial jobs in coordination with the Warehouse Manager.
    • working with the Warehouse Manager to ensure proper stock for commonly used materials, as well as for specific job sites.
  • “Closing out” a solar job, with a job completion email and confirmation from the solar crew that the job is complete, operational, and satisfactory. 
    • working with the appropriate team member to ensure inspections, permit close out, interconnection, and monitoring is completed on time and correctly, as well as quality control and assurance.
  • Overseeing the Logistics and Permitting Inbox. The MO’s direct reports should be the first line to respond to the inbox inquiries, but it is the MO’s responsibility to make sure the inbox is being monitored and emails are being responded to in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the Solar Design Engineer and confirming their work is timely and accurate.

  • Assist with company resource availability (installers, etc.) and operational needs to ensure achievement of established project goals.

Design Surveyor

JOB DESCRIPTION 

In the Design Surveyor (“DS”) role, you will be responsible for administering on-site and virtual design site survey assessments for residential and small commercial properties. You will be directly responsible for aspects of the design survey including, but not limited to Drone assessment, outdoor and indoor assessment of electrical, roof, and structural aspects of the home. You will be obtaining and providing the Design Manager with all the photos, notes, and details necessary to ensure a smooth transition from Sales goals and requests to actual and practical but safe and efficient installation procedures. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Responsible for all residential and small commercial design surveys The responsibilities includes but is not limited to the below: 

  • Conduct physical (and virtual) design surveys with tools such as drones, tape measure, ladders, and personal protective equipment, independently or with a team 
  • Document the project site with photos and written notes using company templates and upload and translate that information into our online CRM and data storage sites 
  • Verify the initial or create updated system layout and equipment locations, including access pathways, ladder setup, electrical details, as well as alternate designs and/or conduit paths 
  • Assist in the completion of system designs for PV projects including: site plans, mechanical racking and attachment plans, single-line electrical drawings, specification of BOS location and interconnection details, and labeling with the Design Manager 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and frequently with customers, salespeople, and operations staff during the entire design survey process 
  • Provide operations and sales departments with engineering and technical support as needed. Attend and find training sessions on new products, installation methodology, and safety 
  • Understand the optimal design applications and design limitations of our standard products, and lead the evaluation of alternate products

  • Generate solar energy customer leads

Permitting and Interconnection Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION 

In the Permitting and Interconnection Manager role (P&I M), you will manage the utility interconnection process and all permit applications for the residential operations team, and assist in these same aspects for our commercial projects. You will also be responsible for the SREC creation and transfer to homeowners, as well as system closeout Owner’s Manuals. The position requires specialized knowledge of PV system interconnection and AHJ requirements for multiple state utilities and jurisdictions. This role also serves as the primary post-sale contact ensuring all administrative project details are organized before and after installation for the residential team. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Responsible for the coordination of key deliverables regarding permitting, interconnections, SRECs, and Owners Manuals, for all residential projects and assistance for all commercial projects. This includes but is not limited to the below: 

  • Daily portfolio management of Solar States active interconnection applications across multiple utilities
    • Coordination between internal operations, and sales team to obtain and process all required documentation for utility interconnections
  • Complete building and electrical permit applications for residential projects across multiple jurisdictions
    • Coordination between internal operations, and sales team to obtain and process all required documentation for permitting
    • Represent Solar States to various AHJs while applying for permits and gathering code and other job related requirements
  • Create and maintain accurate records and ensure data integrity

    • Gain insight into utility-specific net metering guidelines and communicate to internal team Act as cross-departmental company resource for AHJ (permitting) and utility inquiries and communication
