Commonly asked...

What are the standard residential payment terms?

  • Cash – 3 payments: 10% deposit, 70% at installation, 20% at completion
  • Loan – as little as $0 down, $500 security deposit, 100% financing

How much will it cost?

Prices will vary widely based on your energy demands, available space, whether or not you choose to include a whole-home battery backup, and many other factors. Most solar arrays range from $15,000-$30,000. We can help homeowners qualify for $0 down loans with low monthly payments.

Are there incentives?

Oh, absolutely:

  • ITC (Investment Tax Credit) – The Federal Tax Credit provides 30% back on a solar or solar + battery system. The ITC was extended at 30% thru 2032 by the Inflation Reduction Act.
  • SRECS (Solar Renewable Energy Credits) – SRECs are a State incentive that provide an additional revenue stream for solar homeowners. Both PA and NJ have active SREC programs. When you generate enough electricity with your solar system, the energy is sold to your local utility. Learn more about SRECs.

Every type of system

Solar States has designed and installed over 1,000 warrantied systems since 2008. We can design and install EVERY type of system, including:

  • Flat & Pitched Rooftop Systems: 2 or 3-story flat roof homes or traditional pitched roof homes – our most common installation.
  • Solar Pergolas, or Canopies: Canopies elevate the panels, leaving space beneath for patios, cars, or whatever you prefer. In the City, pergolas are very popular for anybody with a rooftop deck – get all of the benefits of solar while keeping the roof space for shaded BBQs and table games below!
  • Ground Mount Systems: Build larger systems than your available rooftop space may allow. Popular in the region’s more rural communities.
  • Solar + Batteries Systems: About 30% of our installations include a whole-home battery backup, the most popular solution being a Tesla Powerwall (we are a Certified Powerwall Installer).
“Knowledgeable, professional, no pressure. They do all the heavy lifting for you like permits and working with Peco. Great prices and loan options while being a certified B Corp and doing well for the community. Would refer over and over again.” – Wes Pipitone (review source)

We offer a comprehensive suite of additional services and packages to help you create the renewable lifestyle and, most importantly, secure your peace of mind at home. Popular add-ons include:

  • Battery Systems: Tesla, Enphase, and other battery products are available.
  • EV Chargers: Have an electric vehicle? We’ll get you plugged in at home.
“Solar-States is the real deal, complete package. From idea to design to engineering to build to inspections to dealing with the utility, they handled it all. This was not a panels on the roof type deal. The project was extremely unique and from the ground up. They never balked at any ideas we had…down to the lighting/switch placement.” – Matt Bowen (review source)

The Everything Portal

Track your installation’s progress and monitor system production in the Solar States web portal. The portal also allows you to leave referrals ($500 bonus!), open support tickets, and view essential documents. There are two different views in the portal: what you see prior to your installation’s completion is different from what you’ll see after.

The voiceover in this video was done by Solar States founder, Micah Gold-Markel.

“5 Stars. Excellent all around experience. Solar States is local to the Philadelphia area. A big plus. The pre-purchase one-on-one customer service and information given was much more accessible and clearer than with national solar companies that were contacted. All permits and permissions were handled by Solar States.” – Fred Moore (review source)

Major savings

Your solar array will produce energy at a fixed rate (i.e., Solar Energy Generation Rate ) in $ / kWh. Without solar, you will be paying your utility company a higher rate for the same amount of energy. The difference between these two rates determines your expected savings and payback period.

The beauty of solar is its rate is fixed for the life of the system, and under warranty for 25-years. Utility rates are subject to change and when they go up your savings with solar will go up!

I can not say enough good things about this company. They have been so delightful and efficient through the entire process of getting set up for solar power. Every single interaction with them has been a pleasure, and I love seeing my electric bills evaporate.” – Mingo Reynolds (review source)
