What to expect during your solar installation
Your solar energy journey with Solar States is a streamlined and transparent process, designed to keep you informed and involved at every step. Remember, you can track your installation progress and, once installed, your system production using our web portal.
Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect during the installation process:
- Project Review and Deposit Invoice: Our engineering team will meticulously review all aspects of your project, ensuring a smooth installation. You will receive a deposit invoice via Intuit QuickBooks, tailored to your chosen payment method—be it direct cash payment or solar loan financing.
- Engineering Docset Preparation: We then proceed to create a comprehensive Docset, a detailed information packet specifically tailored to your project, laying the foundation for the upcoming installation.
- Interconnection Application Preparation and Submission: This phase involves preparing and submitting your interconnection application to the utility company. Once the application is complete, we’ll handle the submission for preliminary approval and communicate any necessary revisions back to you.
- Permit Application Preparation and Submission: Following utility interconnection approval, our focus shifts to obtaining the necessary municipal permits to comply with local codes. All required permit applications are submitted, and we’ll keep you updated should any revisions arise.
- Material Allocation: After municipal permit approval, we allocate and order the specific equipment needed for your project, gearing up for the installation phase.
- Installation Preparation and Confirmation: Our team will carefully review all materials, compiling them into an installation packet. You’ll then be contacted by our logistics team to schedule the installation, which typically spans 2-4 days. Note that this may require inside access to your property and temporary power shutdowns.
- Inspection Preparation and Confirmation: With the installation complete, your system is ready for a code-compliance inspection. We coordinate with municipal authorities for inspection scheduling, which may come with short notice and vague timing.
- Permission to Operate (PTO) Preparation and Documentation Submission: Once the inspection is approved, we notify your utility company that the installation is complete. They are then informed to replace your current meter with a bi-directional net meter, which is essential for solar provisioning.
- Net Meter Installation: The utility company takes over to install the new meter and adjust your billing for solar usage. This process typically does not require your presence.
- SREC Registration Preparation and Submission: We prepare and submit your application for your state’s SREC program through SRECTrade. You’ll receive instructions to set up your SRECTrade account, allowing you to manage and monitor your SRECs.
- Owner’s Manual Preparation and Finalization: Finally, we compile all relevant documents, including approvals and warranties, for your records. With this, your project is complete, and your customer portal dashboard will display system performance and other essential data.
Web Portal Overview
