Job Description
Solar States is seeking a capable and experienced Lead Solar Installer to lead our residential crew in meeting our solar pipeline in NJ and PA
Position Responsibilities:
- Install photovoltaic (PV) systems (modules and racking) in accordance with codes and standards using and following design, drawings, and specs
- Working on residential and commercial roof-tops as well as installing ground mounted systems, and other custom installations
- Pulling of inventory and knowledge of solar inventory for specific projects
- Operate general carpentry, hand, and power tools
- Perform electrical work as needed to connect solar system to electric grid
- Identify electrical, environmental and safety hazards associated with installation
- OSHA 30 qualifications (required)
- Taking photos, documenting job site, and posting photos to PM software
- Truck & Inventory understanding of solar equipment.
- Manage & maintain cleanliness and organization of your crews vehicle and the company warehouse
- Ensuring safety of entire crew and double-checking of all site safety equipment
- Valid driver’s license
Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Responsible for Assistant Crew Lead to help manage the crew
- T-Sheets management for the entire crew including lunch, job codes, notes, clock-ins, clock-outs, even when working on larger commercial crews
- Job Folders filled out and turned in
- Job Photos uploaded into Google Drive
- Provide employee reviews of installers working under the lead to Solar States management
- Customer Payment Acquisition
- Clean driving record with current and valid driver’s license
- Must possess a working smartphone
- Ability to succeed in a fast paced, ever changing environment
- Passionate about solar and the green energy revolution!
- Must be able to follow Company safety rules and all other Company policies
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Entry-level or PV Installer NABCEP certification
- Proficient with computers

Description:
In the Lead Installer role, you will work with your team to assemble, install, or maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs, ground mounts, or other structures in compliance with site assessments and provided plans as well as code compliance. You will be responsible for maintaining and organizing job paperwork, close-out documents, possible site inspection, and monthly meetings with Project Management staff. The job will include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. This position also includes minor electrical work and working from heights and enclosed spaces, so you should be comfortable in all scenarios. The Lead Installer will be responsible for jobs in the Pennsylvania and New Jersey region, with travel to other states as needed. Overnight travel may be required. Solar installation is largely outdoor work, and installers are expected to dress appropriately for the weather. No one will be asked to work under unsafe conditions.
