How We Use Drone Tech for Solar Design
At Solar States, we’ve integrated cutting-edge drone technology into our solar panel design process, which offers a host of advantages. Here’s an overview of how drone technology enhances our services:
- Accurate 3D Modeling: Our approach involves using drones to capture images of a client’s property. These images are then uploaded to our ScaniFly software, which generates highly accurate 3D models of the buildings. This precision, accurate to the centimeter, allows for exact measurements without the need for physical roof access.
- Improved Safety and Efficiency: The use of drones for surveying means we no longer have to rely on manual roof measurements. This not only speeds up the process but also significantly increases safety by eliminating the risks associated with climbing on roofs.
- Optimized Solar Panel Layouts: Our designers, like Jacob, utilize the software to outline roofs and identify areas where solar modules should not be placed. The ‘fill module’ feature in ScaniFly then automatically arranges solar panels in the designated spaces, making the layout process more efficient.
- Detailed Sun Exposure Analysis: ScaniFly’s ‘view sheds’ feature provides indicators of how much sunlight different parts of a solar array will receive. This helps us in maximizing the efficiency of the solar array by ensuring optimal sun exposure.
- Customizability and Environmental Adaptability: The software is designed to be adaptable to changes in the environment, such as the addition or removal of trees that might affect sunlight exposure. This flexibility is essential for both residential and commercial projects, ensuring that each solar array is tailored to its unique environment.
Drones and the Scanifly technology greatly improve the accuracy, safety, and efficiency of our solar panel design process, leaving clients with a detailed and customized understanding of their solar potential, underscoring our commitment to innovation and excellence in solar solutions.
