19119: SOLAR STATES’ MOST POWERFUL NEIGHBORHOOD IN PHILADELPHIA

PHILADELPHIA, February 25, 2026 — PHILADELPHIA, February 25, 2026— On the same day PECO reported a 47.7% surge in net profits — following a year of double-digit rate hikes for residential customers — one Northwest Philly neighborhood reigned as the city’s most powerful solar neighborhood.

We culled spreadsheets. We did math. And what we found: no Philadelphia zip code has more Solar States residential solar capacity than 19119. Not the most installations — that distinction belongs to its neighbors in 19143 (shout out to Cedar Park, Cobbs Creek & co.!) — but more total clean energy capacity. 552 kilowatts sitting on Mt. Airy rooftops, producing power for the neighborhood year after year, Eagles title after Eagles title.

The findings didn’t stop there: no Philadelphia zip code has a higher neighborhood referral rate than 19119. In Mt. Airy, neighbors talk! The world could use more of it.

Our Solar Block award goes to 100 block of W Durham Street – 3 systems on one short street! The broader numbers: 96 installations across the neighborhood, averaging 6.73 kilowatts per system.

PECO rates have climbed steadily and show no signs of slowing. Surging electricity demand and the broader electrification of homes and vehicles has triggered significant increases in PJM capacity auction costs — a regional grid charge that flows directly onto every Philadelphia electric bill.
