Solar Training Curriculums

Founded in 2008, Solar States stands as a pillar in Philadelphia’s solar landscape as an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) firm and NABCEP Registered Training Provider. At the heart of our operations is Find Your Ladder, a paid training program targeting individuals affected by the justice system. Through partnerships with entities like PowerCorpsPHL and TAIA School (Academy of Industrial Arts), we offer an 8-week foundational training in solar, safety, and electrical basics. This culminates in a 6-week paid internship, creating a launchpad for stable employment.

IREC Master Trainer Micah Gold-Markel has worked with and developed curriculums in a variety of shapes and sizes. Courses range in length of 40 to 1080 hours of training to fit the needs of our partners – whether it be entry level training, continuing education, vocational or technical training or professional development. Below you will find an overview of some of our curriculums. If you are looking for more information on setting up a training program, please contact education@solar-states.com

Bright Solar Futures Curriculum

In partnership with the Philadelphia Energy Authority, we’ve designed this 1080 (3 year) curriculum to educate high school students interested in pursuing a career in solar, green energy or the connected trades. This program was built off of the foundation of Solar States’ 160 hour Find Your Power curriculum.

Students get a real education with a mix of lab, classroom and hands-on experience. Our students enter with no previous exposure to the solar industry and graduate as qualified solar installers, designers or operations specialists.

Find Your Ladder Bootcamp

We’ve designed this 40-50 hour (8-10 week) curriculum to educate and train professionals interested in pursuing NABCEP PV Associates certification.

Find Your Power Curriculum

A slightly broader focus than the Find Your Ladder program, the Find Your Power program is 100 hour (6-8 week) curriculum to introduce and educate anyone interested in pursuing a career in solar, green energy or the connected trades.

Participants will get a bit more hands-on experience with plenty of classroom instruction and soft skills and professional development. Our students enter with no previous exposure to the solar industry and graduate as qualified solar installers. This course is aimed towards obtaining OSHA 30.
