Science Leadership Academy
Solar States founder Micah Gold-Markel spent one full school year teaching solar as an elective at Philadelphia's Science Leadership Academy.
Installations
Solar States begins installing on residential and commercial properties. Teaching took a small hiatus while the installations business got off of the ground.
YouthBuild
We wanted to reach a wider demographic than just High School students. In 2013 we began a 4-year relationship with YouthBuild Philly. After 1 year, we secured a grant from The Clean Air Council that enabled our training program to run for 3 more years. Our first student-hires were graduates of this YouthBuild phase.

Powercorps
PowerCorps PHL is a ---. In 2017, PowerCorps students were invited to become interns at Solar States upon completion of the program. In 2018, Solar States began training PowerCorps students on solar. A number of these students were brought on as interns, hired, and stayed for several years.
